In the spirit of reviving my poor, neglected blog, I have joined a small group of photographers in the undertaking of a monthly photo challenge for the year of 2012. For each month, a color theme has been designated, and on the 26th of that month, every photographer in the group will post their themed images.  Instead of being presented with only my perspective of that month's theme, you are presented with the perspective of the entire group, as at the bottom of our posts, we link to the next person in our circle of photographers, so that if you choose, you can keep clicking and see our very different visions of the same theme! Fun, right?

The theme for February is "Pink and/or Red".  As a mother of 3 boys, and not a very girly woman myself, I was having a LOT of trouble envisioning just what I was going to use for this month!  But of course, Valentine's Day rolled around, and I was presented with two opportunities.

The first, I made for myself. Recently, I've gone Dairy Free and High Fructose Corn Syrup Free due to intolerance, but I struggle with my sweet tooth.  Much of the things I want, I can no longer have, obviously.  On holidays when candy and sweets are everywhere, I find myself feeling very deprived.  I've been experimenting with "DF Ice Cream" and "DF Brownie" recipes, and on Valentine's Day, whipped up some DF Ice Cream and Brownies for my boys and myself.  Simple, easy, and VERY low fat/low calorie (in fact, the brownie is about 61 calories).  The ice cream?  Easy as freezing fruit and then running it through the foot processor.  You can find the recipes on my new DF blog, www.wearedairyfree.wordpress.com.

Then, a day later, I was given a second opportunity to capture some serious pink cuteness. Upon picking my 4 year old up from preschool, I found his mouth caked with pink frosting as they'd had some leftover Valentine's Day cookies as a snack.  I've been trying to sneak in a photo shoot to get some new photos on my wall, but as soon as I planned the time and wardrobe, Will promptly gave himself a black eye, which has taken so long to heal, that he then needed a hair cut as I could barely see his eyes.  But...  honestly, one of the photos from this shoot might just have to go on my wall, because this IS him.  He is a silly, crazy, kooky, fun little boy with insane imagination.  Here he is with his pink cookie lips.

And there you have it! Next month's theme is Green and/or Yellow/Gold! Subscribe to my blog to get instant notifications of future posts, and comments are very welcome! Keep the circle going!
