In the spirit of reviving my poor, neglected blog, I have joined a small group of photographers in the undertaking of a monthly photo challenge for the year of 2012. For each month, a color theme has been designated, and on the 25th of that month, every photographer in the group will post their themed images. And instead of being presented with only my perspective of that month's theme, you are presented with the perspective of the entire group, as at the bottom of our posts, we link to the next person in our circle of photographers, so that if you choose, you can visit us all and see our vision! Fun, right?
So, the theme for January is Blue and White. I had my heart set on snow. Normally in Minnesota, finding a lot of white would not present a challenge; however, this has been a very dry season as far as snow goes! And until the last 2 days or so, we didn't get much of any. I didn't want to save this for the last minute, and an ice storm presented itself about 4 days ago, so I took that opportunity to get a little creative with my macro lens and speedlite.
Since I wanted to incorporate my Blue and White within the same image, but I wasn't seeing any Blue, I added a blue gel over my speedlite, and lit the ice clinging to this bush from the side. I took many images, trying to get a magical look (and confirming to my neighbors my photo insanity), but the first image that I took turned out to be my favorite.
And there you have it! Next month's theme is Pink and/or Red! Subscribe to my blog to get instant notifications of future posts, and comments are very welcome!
Keep the circle going! Check out the next photographer in the circle, Connie Dillon, and her interpretation of this month's challenge: http://cdillonphotography.blogspot.com

Christine
