But what if we could carry this motivation to give back to our communities all year? When contemplating making a charitable contribution around the holiday season, consider these four reasons you should give all year round instead. - The needs of nonprofits and other charities exist all year long. Although your generosity is always appreciated, most organizations, such as BAMSI, have budget demands that continue throughout the year. By spreading your contributions over an entire year, your support is likely to be more meaningful because you provide support during a time when organizations may face a cash flow crunch.
- Giving can change the lives of the giver and recipient. For the giver, giving not only can improve mental and physical health but also can boost happiness and reduce stress. The recipients, on the other hand, feel a sense of belonging and can feel valued or seen by their community.
- Doing good for others feels good. Doing good helps activate the brain's reward circuitry, releasing feel-good chemicals like dopamine and endorphins. These chemicals are actually painkillers.
- Giving back helps you learn more about your community and the world around you. Giving back and volunteering for local organizations is a great way to meet new people in your area and learn about the different cultures or perspectives they represent. By supporting your local organizations, you can help build a resilient community that faces obstacles together.
